La Légende d'Iskari : Asha tueuse de dragons

One of the things you never even dream of when you set out to write a book is that, not only will it be on bookshelves in your own country, but it will be on bookshelves in many other countries, in many other languages. Last week when I was on tour with E.K. Johnston, my French publisher (Gallimard) showed me the cover of their edition of The Last Namsara (La Légende d'Iskari: Asha tueuse de dragons, coming out in April). I was on cloud nine all day. I couldn’t stop staring at it. This edition is near and dear to my heart not only because it’s illustrated—I’m a sucker for illustrated covers—in a style I adore (a kind of vintage comic style) but it’s the French translation. In Canada, French is one of our official languages. I’m so delighted that francophone Canadians will now be able to read the story in their first language!

Mentorship is one of the best ways (if not the best way) to learn a craft or trade. I have been mentored not just in my writing career, but in two careers before it: artisanal baking and ceramics.
